Welcome Everyone

Welcome to everyone from Dad’s world.

I invite you to share your stories of my father.  He established so many relationships with people that wherever we went together, people would walk up to him to say hello or ask his opinion of something or just strike up a conversation.  It seemed that everyone knew Dad.

  1. Hi John, This is a story about John/Dad when he had his oriental carpet store on the curve on county truck “P”, I believe at that time it was the Town of Menasha.
Well, it has been some time ago, but I remembered when your dad was visiting Harold Gossman, Harold had the upholstery shop also on the curve before
your dad’s going north. One day, Harold, John & myself (Paul Wolters – son-in-law to Harold) were talking in the backyard of Harold’s upholstery along
with Harold’s dog. We must of talked for some time and then your dad decided to head back to his store and out of no were, Harold’s dog decided
to give John a nip on the back of his heal as he started to turn. John in amazement, turn, and only said – WELLLL! and Harold apologized to your father
up and down. Never drew blood, but it was the shock of talking all that time and then the dog decided to give John a nip. Paul Wolters

    1. Hi Paul. Thank you for sharing this. I remember Harold. I did not know you were related to Mr. Gossman.

Here is a story that has stuck with me over the years about Harold…he was sitting in a chair in my Dad’s warehouse (505 W. Valley Road, Town of Menasha). It was in the late 80’s and he looked up at me and said “I am getting old and I’m scared of dying. Someday you will be my age and you’ll know what I’m talking about.”

I am not sure why, but I think about this quite often…perhaps because it scared me.
